Nash Guitars was started in 2001. Bill Nash, the one most to blame was raised in Los Angeles in and around the music industry. Played in bands, used to make his own guitars, customize things, ruin things and did much of what you would imagine goes on it the formative years of a someday guitar builder, blah, blah, boring. At the writing of this text, the company has grown to include two facilities, 8 or 9 employees and is truly a team effort. We understand that we are the largest independent maker of aged guitars in the industry. Most of the day to day running of and administration work is done or overseen by Mrs. Nashguitars as Bill is really best left to the creative side of things where he will not mess up the business end (anymore). He would have been fired long ago, but he is the only one who knows certain secrets used in the aging of the guitars. All employees are guitar players. We will not ship a guitar or bass that we ourselves would not want to own or play.
No matter what you play or how you play it, we make a guitar that you'll love. Here's a few notes about our guitars:
Alder and Ash bodies in 1, 2 or in some cases, 3 piece construction, depending on year, make and color. 3 pieces are rare, but in some cases three light and resonant pieces of wood will make a much better guitar or bass than one piece of unhappy wood. Bodies go through triage before production to keep within our weight and resonance specs. Heavy, ugly and clunky wood is rejected. Mahogany is used on 69 thinlines if ordered as such.
Necks are of one piece maple or maple with rosewood fingerboard construction. Fingerboards are a 10 radius and frets are a Dunlop 6105or similar size. Guitar nut width is 1 5/8. Bass nuts are 1 11/16 on P and 1 ½ on J. Neck shapes are Medium C, with an average of .83 depth at 1st fret and .95 depth at 12th fret, and Boatneck, with an average of .97 at first fret and 1.00 at 12th with a V shape. Vintage single action truss rods with heel adjust. Flame and Birdseye are available for additional charge. Nuts are Tusq.
All finish is Nitrocellulose Lacquer. No plastics, polys or other materials are used. This applies to the grain filling, undercoating and other prep coats.
Colours include: Two Tone, Three Tone, Amber Clear, Black, Burgundy Mist, Butterscotch Blond, Candy Apple Red, Charcoal Frost Metallic, Cream, Daphne Blue, Dakota Red, Desert Sand, Fiesta Red, Ice Blue Metallic, Inca Silver, Lake Placid Blue, Mary Kay White, Natural Clear, Olympic White, Sonic Blue, Seafoam Green, Sherwood Green Metallic, Shoreline Gold, Shell Pink, Ocean Turquoise Metallic, Teal Green Metallic and Vintage White. We do the Salmon Pink occasionally.
Standard aging levels are light, medium and heavy. Extra-heavy aging is available for additional charge. We do not make new looking guitars.
Hardware is generally Gotoh vintage style. T bridges use compensated saddles for better intonation.
Pickups available are Lollar, Fralin, DiMarzio and Duncan. CTS pots, CRL switches, Switchcraft jacks and Sprague Orange-drop caps are standard.
Each instrument comes with a Nash faux croc-skin hardshell case.
Bigsby tremolo available (on obvious models) at an additional charge.
