The original Feral Glitch was great for a small Kickstarter run, but it was much too complicated and expensive to produce at scale. With this new design, we’ve created a version of the pedal that provides even better performance while cutting down on cost and production time. It loses some of the Feral Glitch’s bonus features (such as the high-pass filter), but retains all of the pedal’s essential abilities, and the result is an extremely intuitive glitch device.

INTRODUCTION

The Mini Glitch is a unique effects pedal designed and produced by TKOG. We’ve created a mail list to alert you when the next run is announced. To be added to the list, email us at thekingofgear@gmail.com. To keep things fair, each batch is offered first to members of the mail list who haven’t bought a pedal yet. The Random (RND) mode starts and stops glitching at random – this mode replicates the Max/MSP patch on which the pedal is based. The Switched mode (SW) starts glitching when the footswitch is depressed; it can be set for either momentary or latching functionality. The Threshold (TRSH) mode starts a new glitch each time it receives an input signal over a set threshold. All three modes offer the option to randomise the length of the glitching sample, or to set it to a fixed length (up to 1 second in RND and SW modes, and 500ms in TRSH mode).

DRY-PATH

The pedal also offers control over the analog dry path. With the dry gate set to “MUTE”, the dry signal will be silenced when glitching is active – mirroring the original Max/MSP patch and sounding similar to a broken CD-player. Alternatively, the gate can be set to pass regardless of glitch activity, which allows one to layer their dry signal with the effect.

CONTROLS

The “Sample Size” knob controls the length of the glitch in all three modes, but also offers a unique secondary function in each mode. In Random mode, it adjusts how frequently new random values are generated, thus determining how often glitching starts and stops (at very low settings, glitching will occur infrequently, but may persist long time when it does).
