Boss PAWN SHOP - Vintage CS-3 Compressor Sustainer (black label MIJ)

Our two cents worth...
"A rare and early example of this popular Eighties Boss pedal being a sought after black label MIJ (Made In Japan), with the serial number 821196, dating it to September 1987. It is in great condition with minimal aesthetic blemishes, but does not come with a box or instructions."

The CS-3 replaced the CS-2 in 1986 and has since then been the only Boss pedal compressor available. This pedal will compress high input signals and boost low input signals to produce sustain. Boosting low-input signal means that noise will be boosted at the same time so it is easy to compress the signal too much and end up with a very noisy signal.

This particular early model has a different circuit board to the more common CS-3, making it fairly rare.

  • PSA (9VDC negative tip) power
  • Optional battery operation
